The simple answer to this question is yes, all laptops can be use on a laptop power bank. But, not all laptops are created equal.

Alright… So, what do you mean? Some laptops require little or moderate power to run. While some laptops need a lot more power to run efficiently.

When I say “some laptops require little or moderate power to run”, here is what i mean, laptops with a low power consumption is around 39W – 45Watts, normal power consumption is 65 Watts.

While a high graphics laptops or a gaming laptops requires between 90 Watts – 240 Watts to run efficiently.

So… What does this mean to you as a user while thinking about buying a laptop power bank for your laptop?

A good laptop power bank should be able to power any type of laptops rated from 45 watts – 240 watts. Then, how long it lasts depends on the power bank’s capacity.

High capacity in watt-hour tends to last longer hours than lower watt-hour.

Things To Check Before Buying A Laptop Power Bank

 

Your Laptop Power Requirement: Every laptop requires a certain amount of power to run smoothly.

To check your laptop’s power rating; you can use the labeling of your laptop to know.

Here are the ways to know your laptop power consumption :

One of the ways to check your laptop power rating is to take a look at your adapter charger description.

For example, laptops rated at 45watts can be labeled with “45W”.

If you didn’t see 45w at the back of your laptop adapter charger label, check for “Output with V and A”, and multiply the numbers, this will give you the wattage of your laptop.

Example, Output Power : 19V 2.36A, you multiply the numbers, it will give you 45W.

A laptop rated at 90 watts can be labeled with “90W” or 19V 4.73A. This is how you check your laptop power rating using the adapter charger.

Note: If you don’t see 45W, or 65W or any number containing “W”, here is another way to know your laptop’s power rating.
– On your laptop, check the label at the back with “Input (V number) and (A number)”, calculate the numbers with (V and A), this will give you the wattage of your laptop’s power rating.

 

Check For The Laptop Power Bank’s Wattage:

A laptop power bank also has its own power ratings, this is usually the battery capacity rating inside the power bank.

Another thing you also need to look out for is the power output of the power bank. Make sure it matches with your laptop’s power rating.
